Emoji WritingStudents are working on their Emoji Writings. Students are brainstorming ideas for their stories, figuring out what sort of story they want to tell (e.g. realistic, silly, fantasy, etc.) and which emojis they will incorporate into the story. They must select a minimum of 5 emojis from their emoji bank. We can't wait to share these creations!

Stop Motion CenterStudents were introduced to the Stop Motion Center. Their initial goal was to explore the Stop Motion app and the movements of their lego characters. This center will grow with the students' confidence and creativity and will encompass the use of legos, play-doh and other materials. Below the Padlet are excellent examples of what the combination of a Focused & Creative student + Stop Motion tools can create!

Library CentersStudents are learning life skills as part of centers: communication, collaboration, following multi-step directions, exploration, creativity, digital citizenship and more. The center activities challenge students to try something new, to use trial-and-error to solve, and are fun to work on.

In October and November, PW students will learn about digital citizenship. This will help to create a positive school culture that supports safe and responsible technology use. Family Tip sheets will be coming home each week. Please use this information to continue the conversation at home.
Students took the pre-assessment to see what they already know about digital citizenship.
Emoji writingWho doesn't like using emojis? 3rd grade students are getting some creative writing practice and get to use emojis to complete their stories. Students will be publishing their final stories to Seesaw and will be narrating them too! Check out Seesaw to see your child's emoji-side!

Flipgrid is a new app that we will use during Library Media time. Flipgrid allows all students to have a voice. Students will be able to respond to a prompt or reflect on their learning through video. Additionally, students will be able to view other classmate's videos and respond. We'll talk about constructive feedback.
This first 3rd grade prompt allows students to share their reading goals for this school year. We will circle back throughout the school year to see how we are doing on meeting our goals. Fiction organizationAt the Parkway Library, the fiction side of our library is organized alphabetically by the author's last name.
